7.5 quake on California fault could 'kill 18,000 and cost up to $250 billion in damage'

A magnitude-7.5 earthquake along the Puente Hills fault could kill 3,000 to 18,000 people and cause up to $250 billion in property damage. The quake could be so intense it would lift heavy objects in the air. The fault runs horizontally across a 25 by 15 mile area, near many vulnerable older buildings.
