Car industry is buoyed by a £2bn buying spree

Sales figures show 143,884 Brits splashed out on a new car last month - an increase of 9.3 per cent on July 2011. The Ford Fiesta was the UK's most popular car - with 7,533 leaving forecourts around the country.
